HV/MV Primary Substations: Construction and Assembly

19 November 2025by bloop

Giavent has been operating for years in the civil and electrical engineering sector, specializing in the construction and maintenance of HV/MV substations. Thanks to the technical qualification of its personnel, the use of specific equipment, and consolidated experience in integrated project management, Giavent has been chosen by primary partners of e-distribuzione for the construction of primary substations across the national territory.

The Primary Transformation Substation is an electrical infrastructure that has the function of transforming incoming high-voltage electricity (usually 120 kV, 132 kV, or 150 kV, rarely 60 kV or 220 kV) into medium-voltage energy (usually 8.4 kV, 10, 15, or 20 kV).

Here are some photos depicting some of the key phases of the civil works and electromechanical assemblies for the construction of the Primary Substations: Construction of transformer basin foundations, construction of ‘pole cat’ mast foundations, construction of the control building, installation and connection of High Voltage equipment, assembly of gantry structures (‘pole cats’), etc.
